<p>Today, for this third episode, we talked with Guillaume, front-end developer, about the different components of his role at miLibris.</p>

<p><strong>1 ) <span style="text-decoration: underline;">Describe your missions at miLibris</span></strong></p>
<p>As a front-end developer, my missions are quite varied: from setting up a kiosk to improving the graphics and developing new tools.<br />I respond to the requests of the support department which handles customer requests, but I also improve the tools used by the team to best meet everyone's needs.</p>

<p><strong>2 ) <span style="text-decoration: underline;">How did you get here</span>?</strong></p>
<p>Being a big fan of video games since I was a child, I always dreamed of working in the computer field.<br />After a training as a multimedia project manager which made me discover the different jobs that revolve around this field, I realized a little by chance that development interested me a lot, so much so that I gave up the idea of being a project manager and trained myself in a self-taught way to web development.<br />After many years working in fullstack (front-end and back-end) and wishing to deepen my knowledge on new front-end technologies, I joined miLibris which offers very interesting projects and with ambitions of technological evolution that correspond to me and motivate me every day.</p>

<p><strong>3) <span style="text-decoration: underline;">What motivates you on a daily basis</span>?</strong></p>
<p>What motivates me most is learning and discovering new things. Web development is constantly evolving and new tools are made available to speed up certain processes.<br />I like to learn new ways of doing things, improve my skills and complete a project that satisfies the clients (and myself).my colleagues!</p>

<p><strong>4) <span style="text-decoration: underline;">What are the qualities of a front-end developer for you</span>?</strong></p>
<p>I would say that you have to be logical, rigorous and a bit passionate. I think that logic is fundamental when you want to be a developer, it allows, once the syntax of a framework or a programming language acquired, to adapt easily on other technos. Rigor is also important to produce clear and qualitative code that will be understood by other developers working on the project.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><strong>5) <span style="text-decoration: underline;">What "business tools" do you use</span> ?</strong></p>
<p>As far as languages/frameworks are concerned, we are on a full Javascript stack with frameworks like Express.js, React and recently Svelte.<br />As far as software is concerned, I use Visual Studio Code as a code editor, Fork as a Git client and other tools such as Docker and Postman.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><strong>6) <span style="text-decoration: underline;">And in your free time, what do you like to do</span>?</strong></p>
<p>Without wanting to sound like a geek, I also develop personal projects and reverse engineer retro gaming in my free time.<br />That doesn't prevent me from going out, traveling all over the world (with a big preference for Japan) and taking pictures during my trips.</p>

<p>Today, it's Eloise's turn, product manager, to present her missions within our company.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><strong>1 ) <span style="text-decoration: underline;">Describe your missions at miLibris</span></strong></p>
<p>I am a Product Manager, which means that I am responsible for the construction and evolution of the functional roadmap of miLibris solutions.<br />In concrete terms, I centralize all the requests, needs and suggestions made by our customers and users, I prioritize them with the help of our Customer Relations and Sales teams, and I work with the technical team to estimate and prepare the necessary work. I then follow up on developments on a daily basis and communicate on upcoming evolutions. So I coordinate the product team from the needs gathering phase to delivery.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><strong>2 ) <span style="text-decoration: underline;">How did you get here</span>?</strong></p>
<p>During my commercial training specialized in entrepreneurship, I discovered Design Thinking and I wanted to explore this user-centered approach. During the four years that followed, I worked as a Digital Transformation Consultant for many clients in various industries (Luxury, Banking, Education...) where I was able to apply these principles to help our clients design services and products that best meet their users' needs.<br />Little by little, I wanted to move on to positions that would allow me to see the entire product lifecycle, so it was only natural that I turned to Product Management. Last year, after two and a half years as a Product Manager in Advertising, I wanted to turn to the world of the Press, which I find fascinating, and it is in this context that I joined miLibris.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><strong>3) <span style="text-decoration: underline;">What motivates you on a daily basis</span>?</strong></p>
<p>One of the things I particularly appreciate about my job is that it allows me to learn continuously. I have the chance to coordinate a team of collaborators with very different profiles (development, design...), who are experts in their fields and allow me to develop new knowledge constantly. It's a sector that I find exciting and essential, which has been facing important challenges for years, to which we try to respond as best we can through our solutions. It motivates me to help our clients meet these challenges, in a co-construction approach that will allow us to be as close as possible to their needs and those of their readers.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><strong>4) <span style="text-decoration: underline;">What are the qualities of a product manager for you</span>?</strong></p>
<p>To be a good product manager, I would say that you have to be organized, rigorous and have a sense of priorities. We receive almost daily new requests from our customers, users, other teams... You have to be organized and rigorous to centralize these requests, understand them, evaluate them (feasibility, effort), prioritize them... all this without getting lost and while keeping the focus to make sure that the team is always working on what brings the most value to our customers and that the vision remains clear for everyone. It also requires good interpersonal and communication skills, because as a Product Manager you are the link between all the people involved in a project. You have to make sure that each of the stakeholders has the necessary level of information on the current and future issues, and that everyone remains aligned on the priorities. This requires constant communication and the ability to switch easily from technical to strategic, commercial, etc...</p>

<p><strong>5) <span style="text-decoration: underline;">And in your free time, what do you like to do</span>?</strong></p>
<p>I dedicate most of my free time to my passion, which is music. I started at the age of 4 with the piano and the violin, and it has never left me. Today I focus more on singing - which I practice alone and in groups - and, for the past few years, writing. I love discovering new artists and rarely a week goes by without me going to a concert. I also work for an association that organizes concerts in Paris and aims to discover emerging artists.</p>

<p>Today, for the first episode, we sat down with Sonia, customer relations manager, to discuss her work at our company.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><strong>1 ) <span style="text-decoration: underline;">Describe your tasks at miLibris</span></strong></p>
<p>I work in the support department where we have direct contact with our 100+ customers in France and abroad.<br />My mission is to support our customers on different projects, but also to ensure the best possible after-sales service on our products (web and mobile readers, kiosks and white label apps, platforms...).<br />I work with the technical, marketing, distribution and digital departments of our business partners to support and guide them during the operation of our solutions and to gather their wishes for development.<br />My role and my main impact aim at defining and framing with them the objectives of a project to then coordinate and plan it with the various technical and commercial stakeholders.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><strong>2 ) <span style="text-decoration: underline;">How did you get here</span>?</strong></p>
<p>I have always been fascinated by technology, and I always wanted to work in the IT field, but I didn't know exactly what specialty I wanted to work in. During my three years at university, I worked in groups, and each time with peers with more or less different characters.<br />I enjoyed organizing work slots, acting as an intermediary between the different members of the group... and that's when I decided to do project management.<br />So it's quite natural that I joined miLibris three years ago, first as a work-study student and then on a permanent contract!</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><strong>3) <span style="text-decoration: underline;">What motivates you on a daily basis</span>?</strong></p>
<p>First of all, personal fulfillment: succeeding in completing a project gives me great personal satisfaction.<br />Moreover, I really appreciate working with a determined and cohesive team that motivates me by offering them constant support and allowing them to share their passion for the project.<br />miLibris is a structure that allows me to fully develop on a daily basis, to progress every day, both in terms of my skills and my know-how, but also in the daily interactions with my colleagues.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><strong>4) <span style="text-decoration: underline;">What are the qualities of a project manager for you</span>?</strong></p>
<p>For me, the essential qualities of a project manager are</p>
<ul>
<li><em>Empathy</em>: in my job, I have to deal with problems, objectives and needs of both our clients and internal staff. You have to put the human side into the relationships to always be able to position yourself in the most accurate and adapted way possible.&nbsp;<br /><br /></li>
<li><em>Organization</em>: I have to deal with many incoming requests and projects simultaneously and I have to be able to prioritize and structure the actions to be able to respond to them in a responsive and efficient manner.<br /><br /></li>
<li><em>Adaptability and versatility</em>: the requests and the interlocutors are diverse and this requires a real skill of popularization, of synthesis to be able to interact with all the parties and to make all the projects progress.<br /><br /></li>
<li><em>Ambition</em>: to succeed in this role, it is essential to be permanently result-oriented in order to achieve the best possible level of customer satisfaction, even if it is sometimes necessary to be pragmatic and not systematically answer in the affirmative when it is not relevant.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>5) <span style="text-decoration: underline;">And in your free time, what do you like to do</span>?</strong></p>
<p>I have a real passion for cooking! I love exploring new recipes, trying different ingredients and playing with flavors. It is a form of creative expression for me and I love discovering new cuisines from around the world.<br />I also enjoy cooking the classics of Kabyle and North African cuisine in general. The time I spend in the kitchen is a time of relaxation for me, where I can focus on the details and let my mind wander. It is also a way for me to share my creations with my friends and family, and sometimes with my colleagues.</p>

In digital, it is the e-reader in particular that will enable it to be delivered to readers.</span></h5>

<h5><span style="font-weight: 400; font-family: Inter, -apple-system, BlinkMacSystemFont, 'Segoe UI', Roboto, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif, 'Apple Color Emoji', 'Segoe UI Emoji', 'Segoe UI Symbol', serif;">From the very first design phases, and even before the ambition to innovate, the fundamentals were obvious: it seemed essential that the stability, reliability, fluidity and security level of the technologies were already recognised as "must-haves" for the new reading device project to be viable.<br /></span>Considering then that a fluid and seamless path offers better readability and encourages the user's adhesion to the proposal, the intention was then to optimise the graphic customisation in the publisher's colours</h5>
<h5><span style="font-weight: 400;">The logos, main and secondary colours will be omnipresent during consultation and the styles of the article mode and summaries will be adapted.</span></h5>

The reader will be able to choose the reading orientation, font size and line spacing, adjust the display brightness, and above all access the reader in light mode, dark mode or by letting the device reproduce the default settings selected by the user. All this information is stored by the reader for a consistent experience over time and across the catalogue.</span></h5>

The user is better guided during the reading process with capsules mentioning the number of articles or the page number, progress bars, and an illustrated summary structured by headings, to filter articles by theme.</span></h5>

<h4><strong>... and after?</strong></h4>

<h5><span style="font-weight: 400;">But beyond phase 1 of this new generation of e-reader, miLibris' ambition is to operate this project as a guideline to continue innovating in an empirical and consultative way in order to serve its customers with new tools.</span></h5>
<h5><span style="font-weight: 400;">Evolutions and new iterations are already under development with a new, more refined and relevant search module to identify and target specific content in a publication, a redesigned dynamic mode to more easily accommodate numerous sources, the construction of a new template to more intelligently arrange the graphical and textual elements of an article, and the implementation of progressive downloading as soon as the edition is selected to facilitate access to the consultation while maintaining offline access in mobile.&nbsp;</span></h5>

<h5><span style="font-weight: 400;">The second phenomenon observed, both at the market level and at the level of miLibris, is the confirmation of the smartphone as the preferred consultation medium for the French. In the space of a few years, the telephone has become the favourite medium for accessing information. In 2021, 65% of French people will use their phone for information, a figure that is 6 points higher than in 2020.&nbsp;</span></h5>
<h5><span style="font-weight: 400;">We also share this observation when we look at the usage data among our customer base: the ratio of the use of our iOS and Android applications has increased by 3 points and the share of the mobile web (the fact of consulting a website from one's phone) has climbed by 10 points in just one year! Consumption on smartphones now represents more than 70% of all consultations.&nbsp;</span></h5>
